How to Use Artificial Intelligence to Help You with Your Copywriting
When it comes to getting your message across on either social media, your website or even email, you have options. You can write the text on your website or social media yourself. You may hire someone else to do it for you. Or you could take the AI route and use artificial intelligence to help you with your writing.
But what is AI? Unlike humans, who get tired and bored of doing specific tasks repeatedly, AI will never get tired or bored of doing your work for you. That means less time spent on tedious tasks like copywriting means more time spent on more important things.
So how do you use AI to help you with your copywriting? You can find software that will help you optimise your website content for SEO purposes and analyse data to determine what your business needs most right now. Or even use Google’s new artificial intelligence-powered voice recognition tool called “Duplex” to schedule meetings on your behalf.
The benefits of using AI
Hiring someone else to write your content for you is expensive, and you can never be sure if they will do it well or not. With AI, though, the software is designed to write for engagement by attempting to write in a conversational tone. You’ll never get bored of reading the same thing repeatedly as the various AI tools available generally check for plagiarism. And with no human error, you’ll get copywriting that is mistake-free (most of the time!)
AI is also more likely than humans to be up to date on the latest trends in marketing because they scan the latest news and information before inserting facts into a written piece. This means your written content could be timelier and more informative using AI. Today’s AI writing tools will understand what people want before even knowing it themselves! Your competitor across town may not have heard of this new technology yet. Still, your AI assistant would have already written about it days ago.
How does it work?
Artificial intelligence, or AI, is a program that can “think” for itself. It doesn’t need to be told what to do all the time and makes decisions within a limited range of parameters for what it is tasked to do. The #1 areas where AI can help you in 2022 is with your copywriting! There are many different types of AI, but there are three main ways that AI can help you with your copywriting:
1. Artificial Intelligence for SEO
Suppose you’ve been struggling to rank high on search engines like Google. In that case, artificial intelligence may be the answer. AI can help you create content on your website or social media pages that helps you attract more people, leading to more leads and sales. Tools like Jasper.AI are made exactly for this purpose. They not only produce articles, emails and social media post text, but do it in a way that is mindful of your SEO goals.
2. Analysing Data
AI can analyse what people search for on Google and what they’re clicking on social media. It can find patterns in what they’re watching on YouTube and how they are using your website. It looks for clues on determining what your business needs most right now to grow faster. The tools available for this are still very complex and hard to set up. They run on platforms like Google’s Tensor Flow, Microsoft’s Azure Cloud services and specialist businesses like Rainbird, Infosys and DialogFlow. At the moment, this is handled best in places like Google’s Data Studio and Agency Analytics — both which can simply the data into dashboards that deliver you much more meaningful information.
3. Using Duplex
Google Duplex is a new artificial intelligence-powered voice recognition tool. It allows businesses to schedule meetings by making phone calls themselves with no human needed! Duplex will call restaurants on behalf of your business and talk with them about opening hours and booking tables without ever giving away its robotic identity (or yours!) It’s not yet fully available in Australia, but it’s coming — and judging by the tests we’ve heard, it’s going to be an excellent tool for busy sole traders and solopreneurs who are not yet in the position to
Using AI for copywriting
This is where AI really finds its feet with small business. When it comes to getting your message across on social media, your website or even email, you have options. You can write the text on your website or social media yourself. You can hire someone else to do it for you. Or you can use one of the latest artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help you with your writing.
But what is AI? Unlike humans, who get tired and bored of doing specific tasks over and over again, AI will never get tired or bored of doing your work for you. That means less time spent on tedious tasks like copywriting means more time spent on more important things.
So how do I use AI to help me with my copywriting? You can find software that will help you optimise your website content for SEO purposes or simply cut down the time it takes to write your website content, emails and social media posts.
Tools like Writesonic, SimpleMarketing.AI and many others are taking the hard work out of writing and making it simple. Combining these tools with others like Grammarly and Hemingway means that you can generate articles, manually review them, run them through plagiarism checkers and even get tips on how to make the article flow better for human readers all before you’ve had to hit the keyboard yourself.
Using AI for Social Media
Social media marketing aims to engage your followers and generate leads. This is done by publishing relevant content to your audience, interacting with other users, and sharing posts by other users who are relevant to you. It makes sense that if you can apply AI to your website articles, you can also get it to help with your social media posts.
Thankfully the same tools that help you write better blog posts are just as good at helping out with social media. AI can be used for helping you write posts on social media to increase the number of followers, automate posts based on what people are posting, or track trends. Hence, you know what posts will resonate most with your audience. In fact, Facebook’s Page Insights inside Business Suite are an example of how AI used to give you recommendations. When you want to schedule a post in Business Suite, it will now give you the option of turning on Optimal Times. These are the dates and times that the AI behind Facebook thinks is your best chance of engaging with your followers.
This helps your business because it takes less time out of your day to schedule content than it would if you were trying to do this manually all the time. There’s also no chance that some vital information will fall between the cracks as AI will always attempt to post at the right time, every time… with your permission, of course.
But what about the posts themselves? Can AI help you write them better?
This is one of the core functions of the tools I mentioned before. For example, in Writesonic, you can select Facebook Ads, YouTube Descriptions, LinkedIn posts and others as types of content to write. You provide a bit of input about the topic and your goals and the AI tool gets to work writing your post.
Naturally, you may need to massage the output a little before posting, but the time saved on agonising over what to write is well worth the little bit of effort with editing at the end.
Using AI for Emails
One of the best ways to use artificial intelligence is for email marketing. If you use AI, you can send out great content that will always be fresh and relevant to your audience. Why would you want AI to do the writing for you? AI writes more email content faster than a human could. It also means that the quality of the copy will never drop over time like it would if a human was doing all of the work.
Today’s best AI writing tools will give you a process where you enter information such as”
· Who you’re writing to
· What their business is called
· What context you are contacting them within (ie: saw them at a networking event)
· What the basic purpose is of your contact
· What tone of voice you’d like to use (casual, excited, formal, neutral etc.)
· What language you would like to write to them in (yes, this isn’t just for English!)
The result is a well-written and relevant piece of text that you can copy into your emails and send. Based on millions of successful sales and lead generating emails sent over many years, these tools cut down the hassle of having to come up with your own brilliant email copywriting.
Is it worth it?
This will come down to whether you’re trying to save time or money. These AI platforms save a lot of time for the average business owner. Personally, my blog writing has been cut down from 3 hours to about 30 minutes. That’s a massive chunk of time that I now get to spend on other areas of my business.
But there are costs involved. I bought Writesonic for $79 (US dollars) for a lifetime deal that lets me write all the copy I need each month. But I have also used both Jasper.AI and SimpleMarketing.AI and found them both to be excellent. They start at $60 (USD) per month and go up from there. If you’re a little price sensitive right now, that may be a dealbreaker.
Yet the benefits, for me at least, far outweigh the cost. Because these tools give me back the one thing I need most these days: time.
